Meet the Team

Get to Know Us

At A Mother’s Strength Doula Services, LLC, our team of doulas is dedicated to supporting families throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the early postpartum period. Each member brings compassion, training, and lived experience to provide respectful, continuous, and family-centered care. A unique feature of our support is that each client works with two doulas throughout their pregnancy, birth and pospartum experience

Our Philosophy

At A Mother’s Strength, we believe every birth and postpartum experience is unique and deserves care that is:

  • Respectful and non-judgmental

  • Evidence-based and individualized

  • Rooted in presence, empathy, and trust

We work collaboratively to ensure families feel supported from pregnancy through early parenthood — helping parents feel informed, confident, and empowered every step of the way.

Founder, Lead Doula

Cheryl Wood is the founder of A Mother’s Strength Doula Services, LLC and a Certified Birth Doula, and Childbirth Educator serving families throughout the Tulsa area. Cheryl brings a rare depth of experience to her work — both personal and professional. She and her husband, Charlie, have raised five children and welcomed three daughters-in-law into their family. Since 2020, Cheryl has also embraced her role as a grandmother, with five grandchildren born over the past few years and more on the way. Through her own family and doula practice, she has experienced and supported a wide range of birth and postpartum circumstances.

Her personal journey includes navigating complex feeding and recovery experiences, such as breastfeeding a baby with a cleft palate, pumping and reestablishing milk supply following hospitalizations, and supporting healing after surgical recoveries. These experiences deeply inform her compassionate, practical, and non-judgmental approach to supporting families.

Cheryl’s work as a doula is grounded in evidence-based care, education, and hands-on support. She has completed extensive professional training, including:

  • Birth and Postpartum Doula workshops through DONA International

  • Birth Certification through Lifespan Doulas

  • Postpartum Certification through DONA International

  • Body Ready Method® Professional

  • Childbirth Educator certification through the International Childbirth Education Association

  • Training in Rebozo techniques, Peanut Ball use, and basic life support (CPR) for adults, children, and infants

  • Cheryl is known for her attentive presence and thoughtful care — from teaching childbirth education classes to providing nourishing support during labor, including homemade bone broth made with herbs from her garden and her signature "LaborAide" electrolyte drink.

Outside of her doula work, Cheryl enjoys walking, yoga, travel, and learning from other cultures. She shares her home with her husband, a scruffy dog named Lola, a calico cat, and a small flock of backyard chickens. Faith and prayer are an important part of her daily life, and she is committed to serving families of all backgrounds and beliefs. She is also actively involved in her community, volunteering with refugee families through childbirth education.

In recognition of their work, Cheryl and team have been been nominated in the Top 5 Doulas in the Tulsa area by readers of Tulsa Kid’s Magazine in 2023 and 2025 and in 2026, they were voted as a Top 3 finalist.

Cheryl has chosen her team carefully and with intention. The Mother’s Strength doula team looks forward to continuing to support families as they navigate pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period with confidence, care, and strength.
